The Hollywood Bowl is sponsoring its first Bike to the Bowl event this Sunday for the Janelle Monae concert. Participants can take advantage of a free bicycle valet and more importantly, free ice cream!
The ice cream is appropriately being supplied by LA’s own Peddler’s Creamery. I don’t know which flavors they are taking along to the Bowl, but the list of flavors on their website includes Pancake Batter and Mexican Chocolate, and for that they should be commended. Riders can show their bicycle valet ticket for their free scoop. Metro riders get a free scoop too, just show your Tap card!
The LA County Bicycle Coalition is supplying the free bike valet. The location will be the Museum Patio on Peppertree Lane. I’m going to be honest, I’ve been to the Bowl more times than I can count, and I have no idea where Peppertree Lane is. Hopefully it will be self-explanatory when one gets there.
The only other scheduled Bike to the Bowl event thus far is the following Sunday June 29 for the Robyn concert. Maybe the powers that be are going to see how things go before scheduling more? Or maybe they just forgot all about it. The Bowl website currently claims, “Join your fellow cyclists on a trek to the Bowl! Organized ride details coming soon.” But considering the first Bike to the Bowl is in less than 48 hours, I kind of doubt those details are forthcoming.
Anybody out there planning to Bike to the Bowl for Janelle Monae? I’d love to hear how it goes! And if there was Pancake Batter ice cream.
